Hand sets school record as Spartan field hockey wins on Senior Day

QUEENSBURY — The Queensbury varsity field hockey team celebrated its seniors on Tuesday, earning a 10-0 win over Gloversville.

Senior Dani Hand scored six goals for the Spartans, setting a new single-game team record. Hand had previously tied the school record with a five-goal game in September of last season. Kara Zappone (2002) and Deb Roberts (1975) also scored five goals in one game for the Spartans.

Kendra Ballard had a goal and an assist, while Katie Gannon, Maddy Moger, and Mia Lemery all added goals. Kaitlyn Barton had two assists for Queensbury, while Gianna Marcantonio and Brianna Zehr each added one assist.

Larissa Sheffield stopped nine shots in goal for Gloversville, who were held without a shot on goal in the game. 

Queensbury will play at Schuylerville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, finishing the regular season with a road contest against Granville at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
