Herbert Rogers

Herbert Jackson Rogers, 68, peacefully went to be with his lord on the seventh of October, two thousand twenty-two while surrounded by his loved ones. 

Born on February 7, 1954, Herbert was the son of Charles Rogers and Ruth Tucker.

Herbert was a wise man with many talents. He enjoyed horses, playing piano, guitar and the banjo as well as creating art that was later sold in galleries. He loved the outdoors and was a very hardworking man who had a great love for all Fords. Herbert was also a very religious man who offered help to strangers without pause. His family will forever remember him as their strength.

Herbert touched the lives and souls in all over his living years, from neighbors to people around the world. He has left his love and many lasting memories for each and every one of his loved ones to hold dear. Family; That is what he loved most in life.

In addition to his parents, Herbert was predeceased by many siblings and loved ones.

Those left to cherish in his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 46 years who have shared a home in Cossayuna, NY for many decades, Lorrie Rogers; their three children Bill Rogers, his wife Melissa, Thomas Rogers and Angie Boone; seven of his twelve siblings; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many other close loved ones.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to High Peaks Hospice, Dr. Mason, and Dr. Zagar at Glens Falls Hospital along with their staff and all other doctors and nursing who have helped during Herbert’s courageous battle, for the consistent care and comfort they provided.

At his request, a memorial service will not take place as Herbert had all the love and support he needed during his very wonderful time on earth.

Susan Howe

GLENS FALLS — Susan Donaldson Howe, 80, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 after a long illness.

Born January 15, 1942, in North Hudson she was the daughter of Edward Donaldson and Beatrice Proctor.

Susan graduated from Schroon Lake Central School and joined the United States Marines. She completed basic training in Paris Island, South Carolina and was stationed in San Diego, California. Susan was honorably discharged in August of 1963. She enjoyed her CB friends, playing on her computer and taking long rides to the reservation in Altona where she visited her special friends, the Rogers children. In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her siblings Lois Polly Harrington and Lewis Donaldson.


Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lisa DeZalia (Brent) of Schroon Lake; grandchildren, Joseph DeZalia and Lexi DeZalia of Schroon Lake; great-grandson, Theo DeZalia of Schroon Lake; sister, Doralee Tessier of Glens Falls; brother, John Donaldson of Newark; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


A graveside ceremony with military honors will be held on October 11 at 11:30 AM at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.


The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at The Pines of Glens Falls Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their consistent care and comfort they provided Susan during her stay. Richard Simonson

FORT ANN — Richard McKay Simonson passed away peacefully at his home on Copeland Pond Road in Fort Ann, N.Y. with his family by his side on September 30, 2022, after a long struggle with lung disease.


Richard was born on September 5, 1940, to Peter and Alice (McKay) Simonson on Staten Island, NY.


He was proud to be a part of the Steamfitter’s Local Union 638 and to learn a trade he enjoyed early on in life. Richard served a short time in the United States Army Reserves. He married Vivian Netchel on March 4, 1970, and together with their young children they moved to Bolton Landing, N.Y. to purchase and run Shallow Beach Cottages in 1978. Richard enjoyed boating, water skiing, downhill skiing and fond memories of time spent in Steamboat Springs, Colorado with Vivian. In his last years, he was able to realize his and Vivian’s dream of living with horses, especially Biscuit, the horse they enjoyed caring for since 2017.


Richard was predeceased by his parents Peter and Alice Simonson; nephews Stephen and Michael Simonson; and his devoted wife Vivian who passed in 2020 after 50 years of marriage. He is survived by his children Danielle Simonson of Fort Ann and Paul Simonson and his wife Katy of Fort Ann; three granddaughters, Luna Wilson, Bela Simonson, and Hunter Simonson; and a great-grandson, Sedrik Wilson; older brother, Charles Simonson and his wife Carol of Arizona; and niece Tammi Perosi of Pennsylvania.


Calling hours will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.


A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rich Weihing officiating.

On Sept. 30 the Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested Elizabeth Lloyd, 41, of Glens Falls for selling narcotics. During a controlled drug buy operation conducted by the Warren County Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) and Glens Falls PD, an undercover police officer and/or Confidential Informant purchased Fentanyl from Lloyd on multiple occasions. Lloyd was charged with 2 counts of 3rd Degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance–a class B felony. Lloyd was transported to Warren County Court for arraignment, where she was released on her own recognizance.

On Sept. 30 the Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jonothon Randolph, 45, of Queensbury for selling narcotics. During a controlled drug buy operation conducted by the Warren County Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), an undercover police officer and/or Confidential Informant purchased Fentanyl from Randolph on multiple occasions. Randolph was charged with 2 counts of 3rd Degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance–a class B felony. Randolph was transported to Warren County Court for arraignment, where he was released on his own recognizance.

On Sept. 30 the Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested Paul A. Capone, 55, of Queensbury for selling narcotics. During a controlled drug buy operation conducted by the Warren County Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), an undercover police officer and/or Confidential Informant purchased crack cocaine and Fentanyl from Capone on two separate occasions. Capone was charged with 2 counts of 3rd Degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance–a class B felony. Capone was transported to Warren County Court for arraignment, where he was remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000cash/$50,000bond/$100,000unsecured bond.

Queensbury Girls Tennis Wins 46th Straight Foothills Match

SCOTIA — The Queensbury varsity girls tennis team earned a 5-2 win over Scotia-Glenville on Friday, earning their 46th consecutive Foothills Council win.

The victory moved the Spartans to 9-0 in the Foothills this season, and extended a streak that began on Oct. 3, 2018. It is the second-longest Foothills win streak for Queensbury, behind a streak of 76 consecutive wins from Sept. 2003 to Sept. 2010.

Bulldog Boys Soccer Rallies to Defeat Queensbury

SOUTH GLENS FALLS — The Queensbury varsity boys soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday, falling 2-1 to South Glens Falls on the road.

The Spartans got out to a quick start, and had a goal waved off for offside just eight minutes into the game. The visitors did get on the board first, with Tyler Zehr burying a loose ball in the 24th minute to give Queensbury a 1-0 lead.

Spartans’ goalie Jake Afsar-Keshmiri made a big save on a free kick as time expired in the first half, sending Queensbury to the break with a 1-0 advantage. South Glens Falls made a push in the second half, and tied the game in the 55th minute when Tarik Kemp tucked a ball home.

10 minutes later, James Thompson buried a shot home, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. The Spartans were unable to generate a game-tying goal, and South High held on for the 2-1 victory.

Kemp and Thompson each scored goals for the Bulldogs, with Alex Straker adding an assist. Grady Bammert made two saves in net. For the Spartans, Zehr scored the lone goal, with Afsar-Keshmiri making three saves in goal.
