Paige Emily Smith

Paige

Paige Emily Smith, 25, passed away on June 4th, 2023, in Troy, NY.

Born on June 9th, 1997, in Glens Falls, New York daughter to William Smith.

Sister to Haley Kneebone and aunt to her two beautiful children.

Mother to three of the most beautiful children in the world Isabelle Rose, Carter Jameson, & Jackson Alexander.

Isabelle Rose being her first born and her only daughter. Looking just like her mother from the eyes and the hair to the nose and the hands, and right down to the mannerisms. She is the most gorgeous little girl in the world with the biggest heart in the world. She is beautiful, caring, nurturing, kind, and loving just like her mother. It is like looking and seeing a mini-Paige. The second born being Carter Jameson. And the third, who is the baby of the three is Jackson Alexander. Both are the most handsome little boys you will ever see. Truly heart throbs and have the most adorable smiles like their mom. They truly brighten up a room just like she did.

Paige was and always will be remembered as an amazing, fun, smart, intelligent, caring, kind, bubbly, goofy, silly, outgoing, and all-around loving woman, sister, friend, aunt, daughter, and mother. Paige had a smile that truly glowed and would light up a room. Especially when she would look at her three beautiful children. It was hard not to smile when you saw the love she had for them just by her smile. Her babies were and always will be her world. She would do and have done anything in life to keep them safe and protected. To make sure they knew their mom loved them so much. Even now as an angel she will be making sure they are safe, cared for, and always loved. Her true blessing in life was and will always be, being a mom. Her most treasured possessions are her three adorable children. She was proud to be a mom and proud to have the kids that she had. Her children will always be proud they get to call her mom. They will always treasure the love she gave them.

She was more than just a mom.  She was a daughter to a man who loved her dearly. Someone he could go to and she could go to him. The older she was the more their bond grew, and they became more than father and daughter, they became friends. She was a sister, one that you could count on when you needed it, trust with your whole heart, and would be there for you in a heartbeat.  She was an aunt, but that kind of aunt you could tell any secret too and the one that spoiled you more than even your grandparents. She was a friend, that type of friend that never lets you down. She knew how to have a great time and have fun, but when you needed her seriously, she would be there instantly. She was all around an amazing and loving woman that you would be lucky to know. One person in your life you wouldn’t want to let go off. One you would truly be thankful to know and treasure. She was someone who always thought of others. She always wanted to make you smile and would use the silliest snapchat filters for her pictures hoping it would bring you joy. She knew how to stand up for herself and was never afraid to say what was on her mind or how she truly felt. She had a strong drive and radiated great energy.

She loved the fall season but couldn’t wait for summer to go to Hampton Beach located in New Hampshire. It was her favorite place to go, she called it paradise. She loved cooking. It was a passion of hers making food from scratch and trying new recipes her family could enjoy. She loved this one hair style, it involved beautiful curls in it.  It took her a while to get it but when she finally did it looked fantastic. When she had her mind set there was no goal that she herself would not accomplish.

She found passion in nursing and wanted to do it. Helping others, taking care of them, and all around just being her natural nurturing self. She finally achieved her biggest goal and did just that. She was offered a position at one of the largest health care unions called Collar City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on June 1st, 2023. Her hard work and dedication paid off. Her passion became reality.

Paige was someone you will always remember, someone you will always treasure, someone you will always be thankful for, and someone you will always love to have known. Even more would be thankful to have received love from her because her love was rare and special and truly given to the fullest.

Richard Paul Haggerty

Richard Paul Haggerty

Richard Paul Haggerty (2/15/39-1/2/23), fondly known as Dick, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Saratoga Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. Dick was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth, his parents Dorothy and Frank, and youngest brother Ken. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Ann, brother Roger (MJ), son David (Katy) and his three grandchildren Frank, Chris, and Lily.

Oldest son of Dorothy and Frank Haggerty, Dick was born in Bronxville, New York, and he grew up in Riverside Connecticut. It was in Riverside Connecticut where Dick met lifelong friends. This group of friends were an integral part of Dick’s life up until the day he passed – they celebrated their friendship with laughter and hijinx, making an extra effort to spend New Year’s Eve together every year.

Dick went to Iona Prep in New Rochelle, and attended Boston College, which was the Almamater of his father. At Boston College, Dick played collegiate basketball and met his future wife Ann Bergan. It was during this time that Dick served his country as a Marine.

Ann and Dick married on June 24, 1961; welcomed their son David in February of 1963, and their daughter Elizabeth in September of 1969.  Dick and Ann moved their family to Greenwich, Connecticut in 1972. The house on Byram Shore Road was always filled with friends – some stopped by for quick visits, or extended stays, and some even set up permanent residence.

During this time, Dick was a member of Tamarack Country Club, and served two consecutive years as president of the club. During his time at Tamarack, Dick could be found on the golf course or at the card table. Dick and Ann during their life together developed a love of traveling. They took several trips to England, to visit and stay with their dear friend Brian Maynard.

Dick was a driven career man and a renowned salesman. He began his career at International Paper, then went on to work for The Gilman Paper Company. During his time at Gilman Paper, Dick served on the board and retired as the Vice President of the company. His vocal and dauntless opinions earned him the friendship and respect of Howard Gilman. While working for Gilman, Dick and Ann split their time between Greenwich, Connecticut, and St. Mary’s, Georgia.

When Dick retired, the couple moved to Saratoga Springs. This was a place that Dick had loved all of his life – in Saratoga, he was surrounded by friends, horse racing, and golf. He loved attending the Annual Jazz Festival at SPAC, followed by hours of socializing on their friends back porch.

Dick’s love of driving scared passengers and pedestrians alike – his ability to briefly pause at stop signs and disregard speed limits was legendary.

Dick was first and foremost a dedicated family man; the love that he showed for his wife and family throughout his life was inspiring. Having faced his fair share of hardship through the years, Dick found solace from listening to the song Danny Boy, which was the favorite song of his youngest brother Ken. Dick bravely fought stage four cancer and was in remission for decades… This battle was a testament not only to his physical strength, but also his determination. These traits were what Dick Haggerty was known for and how he will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Shelters of Saratoga, or a charity of your choice.

Steven L. Mattson Obituary

STONY CREEK – Steven Lars Mattson was born on January 28, 1945, to his parents, Roy and Elsa (Lindgren) Mattson. He was the oldest of 4 siblings. Steve passed away due to Alzheimer’s with his wife Martha and daughter Deborah at his bedside at his home in Stony Creek, NY.

Steve and his wife, Martha, first met in 8th grade. Martha was a new student at Ardsley Junior High School. Upon arriving to class, there were no more desks or chairs available. Martha was assigned to sit on the desk of Steven until her own desk and chair could be obtained. Little did they know they would be married several years later. It was not until after high school graduation that Steve and Martha started dating and eventually married on June 23, 1968. They raised four wonderful children together. Martha and Steve were married for 54 years until his passing.

Steve started his own commercial construction company in the early 1970’s. The company was named “SDR Construction.” It was a synonym for Steven, Deborah, Roy, named after his children. The “S” would eventually also represent Sarah, his daughter born after the creation of the company. He ran a very successful business in New York City for many years. Steve had a very good reputation for quality work and honest dealings.

In 1984, Steve and Martha bought a secluded old logger’s camp in Stony Creek, NY in the southern Adirondack mountains. The house and property were a place where Steve and his father visited often when Steve was a child. After purchasing the property, it was used as a vacation home and full-time residence over the years. It was and continues to be a special place for many friends and family who have many fond memories of gatherings at the home.

Steve was a member of the Stony Creek Volunteer Fire Department and EMS. He served as a firefighter and EMT for several years. While Steve had many interests and activities, his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. Steve and Martha enjoyed dancing and were well known to tear up the dance floor. His wife, Martha, fondly remembers Steve serenading her with an acapella love song.

Steve’s appreciation for hard work, the outdoors, poetry, nature, and general curiosity about the world was passed on to his children. Steve often recited poetry from memory such as T.S. Elliot’s “The Love Song of Alfred Prufrock,” and Rudyard Kipling’s, “Gunga Din.” And if you were lucky enough, you may have heard him belting out a hymn to the earth and sky while walking in solitude around the beaver pond on his property. He especially loved the beaver pond on his property and spent many mornings in the canoe with his family to watch the sunrise.

He is survived by his wife Martha; his children, Steven (Christine), Roy (Allison), Deborah and Sarah (Jamison); grandchildren, Steven, Maddy, William and Mili; brother, Alan; sisters, Karen and Elisa; and many other extended family and friends.

Steve was a generous provider in life. These qualities will continue in death, as Steve and family donated his body to be studied in a quest to understand and treat Alzheimer’s disease. The Mattson family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at High Peaks Hospice.

At the request of Steve and his family, a funeral and viewing service will not be held. Rather, a memorial gathering will be held at the Brewster VFW on January 8, 2023, from 2pm-4pm at 262 Peaceable Hill Road in Brewster NY. Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
