Saratoga Joinery and Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation Collaborate to Finalize 65 Phila Street Project

Members of the new Saratoga Joinery makerspace recently worked together to complete the lattice for 65 Phila Street, the historic building that Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation spent the last three years restoring to its original beauty. The lattice being the final piece of the puzzle to complete the exterior renovation, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation has put the house for sale with the intention of selling it to someone who will complete the interior and be a good steward for years to come.

“The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is grateful for Saratoga Joinery’s assistance,” said Samantha Bosshart, Executive Director of Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation. “The lattice was the finishing touch to the extensive porch restoration. The Foundation looks forward to continuing to work with the Joinery and seeing them complete other projects that will benefit our community.” Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation has been advocating for the preservation of 65 Phila Street and its neighbor at 69 Phila Street for more than 20 years. After a years-long Revive 65 Campaign, supported by local businesses and community members, the project is complete and the house is on the market.

Saratoga Joinery, a new community woodworking makerspace offering classes and membership in downtown Saratoga Springs, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to make woodworking accessible to all. The organization facilitates community service projects for area organizations as part of their focus on community impact. “We have a network of talented craftspeople and an expansive, well-equipped workshop,” said Tori Colarusso, Executive Director. “We want to utilize these resources toward the betterment of our community and the greater Capital Region. We’re grateful to the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation for their partnership and support.”

Through classes and membership, Saratoga Joinery provides a space for everyone to develop woodworking skills in a safe, inclusive and collaborative environment. Their fully-equipped shop at 69 Caroline Street in downtown Saratoga Springs provides 8,500 square feet of bright, clean workspace. Shop hours and more information can be found at www.saratogajoinery.org. Area organizations are encouraged to submit their woodworking-related service project proposals on Saratoga Joinery’s website. Questions can be directed to tori@saratogajoinery.org.

Two Additions Will Allow for Increases to Brewing Operation and Enhancements to Outdoor Beer Garden

Adirondack Pub & Brewery, Inc. invites the public to its annual Coming Out of Hibernation Party on Wednesday, May 8th from 4-7 p.m. at the Pub, located at 33 Canada Street in Lake George. This year the event will include a celebration and tours of its expansion, recently completed with the aid of a grant of up to $50,000 through the Empire State Development Craft Beverage Micro Grant Program.

The Coming Out of Hibernation Party is the Brewery’s annual Customer Appreciation Event. This event also includes food truck specials, chair massages, oversized games and more surprises.

The Empire State Development grant helped support an investment in a 3,000 square-foot addition and the equipment necessary to expand Adirondack Brewery’s operation to meet the increasing demand for a variety of craft beverages, including hard cider, hard seltzer, and ready-to-drink canned cocktails. The expansion brings Adirondack Pub & Brewery’s total square footage to approximately 15,000 square feet. Additionally, the Pub is adding 2,000 square feet to its outdoor Beer Garden. This unique and wonderful space for gathering with friends and meeting new people will include a mixture of dining tables and cozy corners. The addition will feature natural rock tables, flame torches, and a massive gathering table with a built-in fireplace in the middle.

John Carr, Owner of Adirondack Pub and Brewery said, “We love hosting the Coming Out of Hibernation Party every year to celebrate the warmer weather and our customers as we prepare for another busy season. This year will be even more special as we celebrate our expansion. We make everything fresh on-site, so this will provide us with much more capacity. Grab your friends and join us for a good time this Wednesday!”

In addition to a variety of year-round and seasonal beers, the brewery has introduced a selection of beverages beyond beer including canned hard lemonades and teas, hard ciders made with all New York State apples, hard seltzer and the popular Bear Wizz Root Beer.

Adirondack Pub & Brewery, Inc is grateful for the opportunity to further contribute to the thriving craft beverage industry.

Cornell’s Used Auto Parts Hosts Successful Car Show Benefiting Double H Ranch

GREENFIELD, NY – A vibrant showcase of automotive history and culture unfolded at Cornell’s Used Auto Parts in Greenfield this past weekend, where the local community gathered for their 2nd annual Car Show. The event featured an impressive array of vehicles ranging from meticulously restored early 20th-century classics to the latest models, with a special emphasis on American muscle cars.

Building on last year’s success, this year’s show highlighted standout examples of iconic classics from the golden age of American auto manufacturing, with a wide range of Pontiacs, Chevrolets, Chryslers, and Fords, drawing enthusiasts and casual admirers alike. The gleaming chrome and revving engines of classic muscle cars such as the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Chevelle SS turned the venue into a thrilling time capsule of US-made automotive prowess. While plenty of other manufacturers were featured, it was the domestic steel that truly stole the show.

Awards were handed out for Best in Show for multiple categories, including modern, classic, and muscle cars, as well as an overall winner. “We are thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm from the community,” said Mike Colvett, General Manager of Cornell’s Used Auto Parts. “It’s a great way to celebrate our love for cars while supporting a fantastic cause.”

Cornell’s is no stranger to community-building, as they continue to grow their network of customers – both individuals and businesses such as dealerships – by providing reliable, low-cost parts that are also eco-friendly. That simple formula, combined with Cornell’s steadfast dedication to customer service, is the engine that drives their success.

The event not only served as a celebration of automobile heritage but also as a charitable gathering, successfully raising over $6,400 for Double H Ranch. Located in Lake Luzerne, Double H Ranch provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

Attendees were treated to more than just a display of iconic cars. The event included a live DJ, a grill manned by the Cornell’s crew themselves, and a family-friendly atmosphere, giving gear-heads of all ages and experience levels a chance to enjoy the afternoon.

The car show also offered an opportunity for local auto enthusiasts to share stories and knowledge about restoration techniques and automotive history. “These events are crucial in keeping the spirit of classic American cars alive,” noted Jake Richards, a participant and car restorer.

As Cornell’s Car Show grows each year, it continues to attract more participants and spectators, each adding to the fabric of this unique community event. With the dual appeal of celebrating automotive history and supporting a noble cause, Cornell’s Used Auto Parts Car Show has cemented its place as a much-anticipated local tradition.

Looking forward to next year, Cornell plans to expand the event with even more cars and activities to continue supporting the vital work done by Double H Ranch. “Seeing the community come together, sharing their passion for cars while helping others, is what makes all the effort worth it,” Colvett concluded.

For those who missed this year’s show, plans are already underway for next year’s event, promising to be bigger and even more engaging.
